About
Klangweg (“循声觅径”) is a multimedia composition for baritone saxophone and live electronics.
The work is inspired by video games created for visually impaired players, where navigation depends entirely on listening and on judging direction, distance, and spatial layout through echoes, reflections, and subtle variations in sound.
In this piece, the performer uses their baritone saxophone as a sonic guide stick.
Through spatialized electronic echoes generated from different corners around the performance space, the performer “perceives” the room through sound alone, tracing a path and finding their bearings without relying on sight.
The piece constructs a space that exists only through sound: a landscape where direction, distance, and movement are perceived through delays, reverbs, and multi-channel spatial responses. It is a journey shaped not by sight, but by listening.
